Amazon is offering a $7,500 Amazon Energi-powered battery to customers
Amazon is now offering a battery powered by an Amazon Energizer battery to a select group of customers who want to buy a home battery that’s designed to last a lifetime.
The deal with the electric appliance manufacturer, which has not disclosed pricing, is aimed at people who have purchased an Energizer-powered home battery for a home or small business but want to upgrade to an Amazon battery that can be plugged into a computer, smartphone or tablet, said an Amazon spokesperson.
Customers who want a smaller battery that doesn’t need to be plugged in and can recharge over the internet will also receive an Amazon Powerpack battery that offers a range of 1,500 to 6,500 miles.
The Amazon Powerpacks are designed to offer “more than just extended range,” said the spokesperson.
They can be used in place of a home’s batteries, which can be expensive.
Amazon has also announced plans to sell Powerpacks that have more than one battery in them.
The Energo batteries are also expected to be sold in larger quantities.
The announcement comes just a week after Amazon launched its new ecommerce portal, Amazon Energy, that is designed to make it easier for customers to find and purchase energy products.
The company says its new Energy platform will allow customers to shop for energy products in a variety of categories and offers to pay for them through Amazon.com.
