Philips Electronics announces $2 billion investment in Bournemouth electrical appliance manufacturing
Bournshire, England, May 2, 2017 – Philips Electronics announced an additional $2.6 billion in investment into Bourness electrical appliance manufacture and construction on Monday, and the company has also announced the creation of its first electric appliance production plant in the UK.
Philips has announced that it has been awarded a $1.4 billion investment from the European Commission in a joint venture to create the Bourneson plant, which will produce electric appliances at its headquarters in Breslau, Germany.
Philips will use the $1 billion investment to build an electric appliance factory at Bournsons site.
In a statement Philips said that it is proud to be an EU Partner and is focused on the future of electric appliances in the United Kingdom.
“We are excited to be a UK Partner of this great company.
The Bourneston facility will allow us to increase our manufacturing capacity and our competitiveness,” Philips President of Sales & Marketing, Jeroen Bos, said in a statement.
Bournemouth has been a manufacturing hub for a number of companies that make electrical appliances.
It is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of electricity to the UK, and employs around 4,000 people in the region.
The new Bournmouth facility will make it possible for the company to increase production at its Bournsburg facility, where production has grown significantly over the past few years.
According to the BMA, the Bursington plant is currently the UKs largest manufacturing facility.
Philips announced the investment on May 1, with a commitment to spend $2bn over the next 10 years.
In the UK alone, Bourners new plant is expected to employ more than 100 people, according to Bournesters website.
Bens new Bresls production plant will be the first electric appliances factory in Europe.
Porsche, the German automaker, has been investing in electric vehicle production for several years, with the Bressels plant being the first production facility in the US.
Last year, the US Department of Energy announced plans to invest $4.5 billion in Burses $1 trillion electric vehicle manufacturing program.
Electric vehicles have grown significantly in popularity in recent years, as they have become more affordable and environmentally friendly.
As a result, manufacturers have been ramping up production and increasing production speeds, resulting in the recent increase in the cost of batteries.
To ensure that its manufacturing process is environmentally friendly, Philips is planning to produce and install a new energy efficiency system in the Bouness plant, to reduce emissions from production, the company said.
