Posted February 07, 2019 12:15:38Fans have been sharing photos of their electrical appliances and equipment, such as a fire hydrant and a fireplace, as a sign of protest over the upcoming season.
“The Simpsons is not a political show, so it’s not about politics,” said one user on Twitter.
“If you see an appliance on the street, just turn it off, no one will use it, you will just be wasting electricity.
Just like electricity.”
Another user on the show’s official Facebook page said: “The Simpsons fans can use electricity to cool their cars and stuff like that, but that doesn’t make them any more politically correct.”
A spokeswoman for the show, which is set in a fictional fictional town in California, told the ABC it was aware of the “negative feedback” and would be “looking into this matter”.
“We are aware of these issues and have been in communication with the people involved,” she said.
“We are also currently investigating a few other issues that we have been aware of, including an issue involving a fire extinguisher.”
Our team is constantly looking at ways to improve the show to better reflect the times we live in, and we will do our best to get it right.
